2004
Various sizes, textile, screen-print and hand-embroidery
'This collection of work was developed based on personal experiences and travels during the year. From expanding the pieces from the Hairdressing series, to capturing a scene at Nottingham Castle, to asking my nana to pose drinking tea in John Lewis or staging her hanging washing out in my auntie's garden while visiting her in St. Albans. To photographing scenes from TV programme where an ageist younger person dresses up as an older woman to see what it was like to be older and dupe the real older women into believing she was old too. To photographing and drawing people in family homes, especially Pat on Poppy in her living-room, Poppy as Pat told me she hadn't really liked her name and would have preferred Poppy.  To watching the women play Bingo and the food sellers at Nottingham's annual Goose Fair. To capturing local people while on holidays in Prague, Greece and Germany. All the works went through the same process - seen during day to day life, photographed, drawn in pen line, then made into stretched textile pieces with a combination of new and old fabrics, screen-printed and hand-stitched.

This series was drawn from both my own clothes and those found in Vintage shops in Nottingham. I visited local shops and asked could I photograph some of their items. From this people would commission me to make piece based on items personal to them.
